Water Treatment
The Village of Weston uses a number of chemicals to treat water drawn from wells. Chlorine is added as a disinfectant to safeguard against any potential bacterial contamination. Fluoride is added to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavity formation. Sodium hydroxide and polyphosphate are added for corrosion control and to prevent the precipitation of naturally occurring iron and manganese in the water.
The addition of chemicals used in water treatment is monitored through regular testing of the water. In addition, the water utility routinely monitors for contaminants in your drinking water according to State and Federal laws. Weston is proud that our drinking water consistently meets or exceeds all State and Federal requirements.
Sanitary Utility
The sanitary utility plant consists of approximately 95 miles of sewer mains and 12 pumping stations. Wastewater treatment is provided by the Rib Mountain Metropolitan Sewerage District's (RMMSD) regional facility. RMMSD also serves the Village of Rothschild, Rib Mountain Sanitary District, and the Town of Kronenwetter.
This municipal partnership has maintained a sanitary sewer cost which is below average for communities of equal size based on available data.
Board of Trustees
The Village of Weston's sanitary sewer and water utilities are governed by the Board of Trustees. Daily operations of the utilities are overseen by the Director of Public Works. The Village provides service to over 4,600 customers in the Villages of Weston and Rothschild.
