Where Do Your Tax Dollars Go?

This year the assessed tax rate for Village of Weston residents decreased 39 cents. We anticipate tax bills being mailed on December 12th. The Village’s share of the tax bill is approximately 36%. Below is an example of the how the Villages uses of the tax money received from a property assessed at $250,000. If you own a Private Onsite Waste Treatment System (POWTS) or private septic system, you will see a $6 fee on your tax bill. This will affect about 703 residents in the Village of Weston.

Marathon County has implemented an annual POWTS Maintenance Program Fee of $6 per septic system, that is reflected on your tax bill beginning in 2025. This fee helps fund the county's POWTS Maintenance Program, which ensures septic systems are properly maintained and operating as required by state law. This program plays an important role in protecting our lakes, rivers, and drinking water, supporting Marathon County's vision to be the healthiest, safest, and most prosperous County in Wisconsin.

During the last two weeks of December, Waste Management will be collecting all their garbage and recycling carts on your regular garbage day!

Be sure to have them curbside so you can make room for the new Harters garbage bins which will be provided due to the Village's new garbage contract!

If your collection day is Thursday or Friday of those weeks, remember they will be collected one day later due to the holiday.

Winter has arrived! With this comes our winter parking regulations. Parking is regulated during this time to assist our public works department when snow plowing is to be completed.

Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is excited to announce the return of the Holiday Lights Recycle Program!

Collection boxes are convenient locations across the community and will be out November 15 through January 15th. Wausau Habitat ReStore takes holiday lights all year round during regular store and donation hours of operation.

The Patriot Avenue of Honor is coming to Weston! All area protective service people are invited to be recognized alongside other veterans in the community. The banners will be displayed on Schofield Ave, and are currently $395 until February 2/28/2026. For more information, go to the link below:
