What is Strategic Planning?

Strategic planning is the process by which leaders of an organization, such as a local government, determine what it intends to be in the future and how it will get there. It involves developing a vision for the organization's future and determining the necessary goals, priorities, and action strategies to achieve that vision.

As the great Yogi Berra once said: 

"You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there" 

A strategic plan serves as a community's roadmap and is used to prioritize initiatives, resources, goals, and department operations and projects. The strategic plan is a big-picture document directing efforts and resources toward a clearly defined vision.

Over the remainder of 2022, the Village will be undertaking a strategic planning process with the help of outside consultant, Rapp Consulting Group and facilitator, Cory Poris Plasch, to create a strategic plan for the Village. The first step will be resident and business input. We want to hear from you.  We need to hear from you!  Find out how you can provide input into the processes below!

Join a Focus Group

Focus Groups will be an opportunity to openly discuss your perspectives and opinions about the Village and its services. Neither Village staff or elected officials will be present during these sessions.  Input will be compiled and shared anonymously. 3 In person Focus Groups were held the week of October 3rd. Cory Poris Plasch of Rapp Consulting Group, will also be facilitating a virtual Focus Group on the following date and time: 

  • Thursday, October 20, 2022 - 7 pm (Virtual)

If you are willing to participate and assist us with this strategic planning process, please register using the link below. It will take you to a Google form where you can let us know a little about you and your availability. Focus groups will be limited to 12-15 participants each.  We hope to have a mix of  stakeholders - business owners, homeowners, renters, community leaders, long time residents to new residents, etc.

The Village of Weston is undertaking a strategic planning process to ensure our community is prepared for the future. This process will develop themes and priorities that Weston’s government and elected officials will use to direct resources over the next three to five years. An important part of this process is obtaining feedback from residents, businesses, community organizations and other valued partners. All responses will be anonymous. Please take the next several minutes to answer the questions in our strategic planning survey and help us chart our future! The survey will be open through October 28, 2022.
