On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the Village of Weston held a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new Weston Municipal Center, 4707 Camp Phillips Road.  On hand were members of the Village Board, the Building Committee, Miron Construction, Kueny Architects, Village staff, Wausau Area Chamber Ambassadors and others.  The ceremony included remarks from Building Committee Chair, Mort McBain; Village President, Mark Maloney on behalf of the Board of Trustees; with Village Administrator, Keith Donner, serving as MC.   Thanks to all who assisted with preparation for the event – the Wausau Area Chamber, Miron Construction, and Village staff.

The event marks the beginning of a 14 – 15 month construction phase and follows a planning process that began in 2016.  In the end the Village will have a modern facility for Public Works and Administration that will serve Village residents for the next several generations –  “Building to Serve” the Village.  The new facility will create efficiencies for public works response and equipment maintenance, improve energy efficiency, and improve safety for employees and visitors – improvements which would not have been cost effective in the current facility.

Clearing of trees has been completed.  Clean up of brush, site grading, and underground utility connections are scheduled to begin the week of July 26.  Camp Phillips Road will be detoured for the utility connections which are expected to take 10 days to complete.  We will keep you informed of construction progress with social media posts and updates on the Building To Serve website.
